A Busy Month of May

27th May 2025

We have had a very busy month of May to date. It began with preparations for First Holy Communion which was held on May 10th in the Sacred Heart Church Kilconnell. This was a very special occasion. Thank you to Margaret, Marie, Sharon and the GRD for all their work in preparing the church.

Upon our return to school the next week, we got to show off our Communion dresses to our school friends and then, to the staff and residents at Ballinderry Nursing Home. We received such a warm welcome and were treated to lots of goodies following our singing. We were also treated to a special rendition of 'You are My Sunshine', on harmonica.

Congratulations also to our Fifth and Sixth class pupils who celebrated their Confirmation on Friday 16th May.  Thanks to Fr. Geraghty and Bishop Duignan and a special word of thanks also to our wonderful school choir who enhanced both celebrations with their beautiful singing. We were blessed with wonderful weather for both occasions, and we would like to thank the school staff for preparing the children for these two special sacraments.

This month also saw two of our pupils represent our school at the Write-a-Book competition in Galway Education Centre. All pupils from 2nd-6th took part in the Write-a Book competition again this year and the two girls were Special Merit award winners. Congratulations Beth and Emma. They were presented with their medal and certificate by Patricia Forde, renowned Irish children's author. We congratulate the girls and encourage all the children to keep reading and writing.
